Below is the schedule for Saturday, February 3. Please remember to bring your binders, a pencil and a water bottle. Please start to memorize songs and highlight your lines or lyrics.
ACTOR Back-stories: If you are in the ensemble (New Yorkers, Servants, Homeless people) and for those of you with named parts, please start to develop a back-story for your character. Give yourself a name and an age. Who is your family? Did you have a job? What was it? How much money did you lose when the stock market crashed? Did you have an education? What is your attitude about Annie? Rich people? What do you do for fun or take away your worries? What are your dreams. If you are an orphan, how did you become one? What do you like or not like about Hannigan? If you are a servant, what do you think about Mr. Warbucks? The other servants? Do you live at the mansion or do you live with your family? Who is your family. How did Warbucks make his $? - -You get the idea. Having a back-story makes you more interesting on stage and helps you decide how you relate to other characters in the show. It makes a HUGE difference to the performance. Research: To help develop your back-story and to help with our props and sets, start to do a little research about the time and place that Annie is set, which is 1933 New York. The Great Depression started in 1929 so many of your characters should have experienced the the hey-day of the 1920's before the stock market crash. And remember cell phones and even TV were not yet discovered yet. Even regular land-line phones were not all that popular yet.
